Every day, I am reminded of why uAspire’s work is so important in helping young people reach their dreams of a college degree. Last week, a parent’s kind words proved it again to me.
I’d like to share a few words from a letter that a uAspire parent sent to me recently. I think it says a lot about the care that our entire staff puts into the work that we do:
My child and I have been fortunate enough to have benefited from the wonderful services that are provided through uAspire. Last year was our first experience going through the college application and financial aid process. My daughter graduated from high school in 2011 and decided to take a year off before going to college.
When the process began for us, we did not have the camaraderie of other classmates, parents, and the school to assist in walking us through the tedious steps. By being a divorced single parent sending my only child to college for the first time, the mere thought of it seemed to be an overwhelming and daunting task.
Everything changed for the better once your wonderful employees came to the rescue. From the moment we walked into the office, we knew we were in good hands. Everyone was so very polite, respectful, kind, patient, compassionate, knowledgeable, and professional. Dan Mendelsohn, Dave Leopold, Pete Shungu, and others were very instrumental in carefully walking us through all of the necessary steps.
Not only were they helpful in the office, but they were also available by phone to answer questions. I was also impressed by the way they would follow up in a timely fashion by phone, e-mail, or both. Your staff has a special way of spreading positive energy through the air in the midst of what could be a very stressful time for students and parents.
My daughter is now in her second semester at college. My sole purpose is to show our deep appreciation for all of the help we have received and to let you know what an outstanding job your employees are doing. uAspire is more than just a program. It is a support system and springboard that helps students to follow their dreams.
Letters from parents are rare. Letters this powerful are even rarer. I wanted to share this because I think it says so much about uAspire and what our work means for college-aspiring youth.
